A little about the Band...........

Tony Shergold – Guitar Vocals 

Tony Shergold has many years experience playing in many well known Perth bands, including the recent outfit OffGrid,.

Tony Shergold is a virtuoso guitarist, bassist and singer/songwriter. Although an eclectic musician he is well-known locally as a great blues-based guitarist. He has worked with Rick Steele & the Hot Biscuit Band and fronted his own Tony Shergold Band in the 1990s. Tony has also recorded an album ‘Twenty First Century Blues’ produced by Tony at Tone Zone Studios Perth which has been described as a brilliant contemporary blues album.

As a young man Tony also recorded an album with Greg Lake from the iconic Progressive Rock 70s supergroup Emerson, Lake & Palmer. 

 

Brad Wintle Guitar/ Vocals

Brad’s musical versatility stems from extensive experience performing blues, contemporary rock, Irish music, and original compositions.

Known for his searing vocals and rich guitar sounds, Brad has performed throughout London and Ireland. On his return to Western Australia Brad performed with acoustic duo ‘Acoustic Cara’, the acoustic pop rock trio – ‘Fitzcarraldo’ and fronted the hard-hitting blues rock outfit ‘Rattle Gun Road.’

More recently, Brad has linked up with British harmonicist Adam Norton, along with a powerhouse swinging rhythm section to form the ‘Blue City Wailers’ whose discipline resides in the electrifying Chicago blues sound.

Brad’s heart will always remain loyal to his love of the blues, and is strongly influenced by artists such as Albert King, Albert Collins, Howling Wolf, Abu Talib, The Allman Brothers Band, Robben Ford, and Eric Clapton. Brad has often said “my time is now dedicated to the Blue City Wailers following a purist attitude to the delivery of a raw and energetic music that will set dance floors alight across Perth, and possibly further.”

Grant Hills – Drums

Grant ‘Big G’ Hills, is the drummer for the ‘Blue City Wailers’, where his well developed swing style adds to their distinct Chicago Blues sound. Originating from Auckland, New Zealand, as a youngster, he was inspired by well renowned New Zealand blues artists, such as The Willy Dyson Blues Band, Hammond Gamble, and Midge Marsden.

Grant played with a number of blues rock bands, be- fore moving to Perth, where he played with a number of local blues and swing bands, such as the ‘Freight Hoppers’, and the ‘Swinging Brass Razzos’.

Grant has a wide range of influencers including Christopher Layton, Fred Bellow, Sam Lay, Bernard Purdue, and Marty Dodson amongst his strongest drumming influences today.

Bob Morton –  Harp, Percussion and Vocals  

 

Bob has played in and around the Perth local and country areas and was with the original FBI band also has had many years with bands over on the Central Coast of NSW both in blues and country.

Bob is the son of Tex Morton who was the first Roll of Renown award recipient and is known as the father of country music.

Bob’s Harp playing, supported by his choice of specialist microphones and amplifiers enables him to produce authentic blues tones that perfectly suits the Blue City Wailers.  

Paul Moore –  Bass and Vocals 

Paul grew up on a diet of Beatles and Stones and gradually tunneled his way back through to the roots of rock’n’roll to where it all began…the blues. Always a lover of a solid Bass line, he lists among his favorite bass players Paul McCartney (it had to be said), Chris Squire and Phil Lynott. As you may have guessed, he’s been around a while, occasionally popping up here and there to fill in when asked, but has recently found his happy place in the Blue City Wailers. An old soul with a young heart.
